Susie worked for me/with me for nearly 30 years as we built the largest food safety manufacturing company servicing the commercial food service industry, specifically focusing on proprietary products designed to prevent the spread of foodborne illnesses in restaurants and institutions worldwide.
As the company grew Susie became one of my company Vice Presidents. She oversaw all the accounting functions. Accounts Receivable, Purchasing, Invoicing, and HR all reported up to her. Susie was responsible for compiling all financial statements, bank revolvers and check runs. The company had over 1,000 SKUs and nearly 100 employees, with annual sales of over $15 million.
Our books were fully audited by Deloitte, so we would be able to provide our financial partners with fully audited statements by one of the top accounting firms in the world. Susie was the direct point of contact for the Deloitte team and worked with them through the entire auditing process to secure clean audits.
Susie was also the liaison for me with our outside Board of Directors and coordinated all meetings and prepped all the financial reports.
So, the last question is, why isn’t Susie working with me today. Simple, when we sold the last company, they required Non-Competes from all the management. I eventually left the company and went into competition with them. Susie was trapped by her non-compete. So, she stayed on and did well for herself. If not for the non-compete, I wouldn’t be writing this letter as she would be working with me!
